Rugby: Goromaru has yet to accept Toulon offer

TOKYO, Feb. 15, Kyodo

Ayumu Goromaru has received an offer from French club Toulon for next season but the two parties have yet to reach an agreement, sources close to the Japan fullback told Kyodo News on Monday.

Goromaru's Top League club, Yamaha Jubilo, denied any knowledge of such an offer when reached for comment.

French media reports on Sunday said Toulon and the 29-year-old Goromaru had struck a one-year deal.

The Brisbane-based World Cup star is set to make his Super Rugby debut on Feb. 27 for the Queensland Reds, a commitment that would last until August should they reach the playoffs.

Goromaru came off the bench in Friday's 31-18 preseason defeat to the Brumbies.
