Rugby: Former Japan captain Hirose hangs up boots

TOKYO, Feb. 24, Kyodo

Toshiaki Hirose, who earned 28 caps for the Brave Blossoms, and for two years captained Japan under head coach Eddie Jones, announced he was ending his playing career on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old wing for Top League side Toshiba Brave Lupus was named to last year's Brave Blossoms team to the Rugby World Cup but did not take the field.

Hirose will hold a press conference next Tuesday.
