Japan, China diplomatic officials to meet next Mon. on N. Korea

TOKYO, Feb. 26, Kyodo

Senior diplomats of Japan and China will meet next Monday in Tokyo to discuss responses to North Korea in the wake of Pyongyang's recent long-range rocket launch and nuclear test, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said Friday.

Kong Xuanyou, China's assistant foreign minister, will meet with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama, the ministry said, in what would be the first visit by a senior Chinese Foreign Ministry official to Japan since North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test on Jan. 6.

The officials are also expected to discuss how to move forward the bilateral relationship, the ministry said.
