Video Advisory (Feb. 29) Detained U.S. student apologizes

TOKYO, Feb. 29, Kyodo

The following is the latest available news video.

Detained U.S. student apologizes

-- Otto Warmbier, a University of Virginia student, attended a press conference in Pyongyang on Feb. 29, 2016, offering an apology for committing what North Korea calls an "anti-state hostile act" and begging for his early release. The press conference with Warmbier, who has been detained in North Korea since January, comes as the U.N. Security Council is expected to adopt fresh sanctions against Pyongyang over its fourth nuclear test and a long-range rocket launch that utilized banned ballistic missile technology.
